Journeyman has been promoted quite a bit on NBC. The star Kevin McKidd is a very good British actor. He saved the boring HBO series Rome. But his talents cannot save Journeyman. This show airs on Mondays at 10 PM.
The concept is wrong. Who cares if someone goes back and changes events so that a person can or cannot do something good or evil in the future? There needs to be a bigger arch or reason to the hero’s actions.
This is the type of drama in the same vain as Ghost Whispers ( a poor show) improving certain people’s lives by doing something. We don’t really care about these good people. So why bother?
If you compare this to Heroes which does have a bigger picture you can see the flaw in Journeyman. We would care about Dan Vasser (McKidd) if he was saving the world from a future disaster but to change one person’s life is not interesting enough for the viewers to return each week. What’s the point?
The characters are well thought out and played by good actors. We enjoyed seeing Reed Diamond from Homicide: Life on the Streets. But these good actors cannot support a flawed concept.
Maybe a re-write and change in direction can save this show. The way things are now we cannot recommend Journeyman.
