EMMY Award - Lindsay Wagner - Bionic Woman 1977

This is the Opener to Part 2 of “Deadly Ringer”, the two part episode for which she won the “Best Actress in a Dramatic Role” Emmy. You’ll see glimpses in the shorts from the previous episode that indicate the powerful acting Lindsay had to pull off in these particular episodes. She played dual roles, that of her regular character Jamie Sommers and also that of a criminal called Lisa Galloway. The Galloway character had first appeared in a Season 1 Episode titled “Mirror Image” in which her character had undergone plastic surgery to impersonate Sommers, a secret Government Agent. Of course, both roles were played by Lindsay Wagner. In this Season 2 episode, Galloway returns this time with “Bionic” like strength thanks to a new drug called “Adrenalazine”. Galloway’s character is still in Jail and in the dead of night her character and Sommers are exchanged by crooks working within the Prison System. Sommers then faces the difficult task of convincing all she is not Galloway and freeing herself from incarceration. The Opener to this much loved and top rating 1970s series “The Bionic Woman” follows. Lindsay Wagner starred as the recosntructed Tennis Ace, Jaime Sommers as she travelled the Globe as a secret agent on the most dangerous, for most mortals, of assignments. She FIRST appeared in an episode of the “Six Million Dollar Man” as a love interest for former Astronaut and Bionic Super Hero, Steve Austin. But at the end of that 2 part episode she was killed off. The ratings went through the roof and after being inundated with requests to bring her back.. the Scriptwriters devised the plot that she actually didn’t die and when they resurrected her from surgery.. she was back but with only faint remnants of the memory of her former life. So Steve was lonely and single again. “The Bionic Woman” ended up sometimes out-rating “The Six Million Dollar Man” and there were rumours at one stage that Lindsay Wagner was on a better pay packet for her role. Both series though were popular with viewers and for myself I can remember as a kid having many a “Slooooow - motion” Bionic Battle with school mates in the backyard. The Bionic Woman was made by Universal and aired on ABC TV and NBC TV in America and on the 0-10 Network in Australia. All Rights Reserved.

I pursued photography as a hobby for the next 13 years before deciding to pursue it as a profession. During this time I earned a B.A in Economics and worked in the business world. I then returned to school to earn a photography degree while working in a commercial studio. I shot my first job for a film production company in New York that was filming George Carlin’s first HBO special. I never looked back. Working in commercial photography trained me in the importance of preparation and detail. Managing a lab and studio showed me what can be done after the shot. Today I keep abreast of the rapidly changing photography field through publications, seminars, workshops, trade shows and of course the Internet. The tools are changing but the basics are the same, an artistic eye, technical knowledge and the willingness to do what needs to be done to get the shot. My goal is simple, get the shots that tell the story of the moments you never want to forget, in a style that is relaxed so you can be too!
